lovely-ness

meet kari:
my beautiful, graceful, taller-than-me-and-i-wish-she-wasn't, thoughtful sister-in-law.  i LOVE these pictures.  yesterday afternoon when i got home from work i asked her if i could just snap a few pics.  the light in the room she is staying in at our house usually is great, but it was a little off, so i wanted to work on my ugh-this-light-sucks-can-i-still-make-it-work skills.  also apparently today i want to hyphenate everything.  she obliged me, and it turned into more than a few pictures.  we even moved into the dining room, because i was going to upload them at my computer, but then i liked the light in there too, so it continued, which i am grateful for, because this first shot came from that second group.  we are planning on doing at least two photo sessions while she is here and i couldn't be more pleased.  she says she is awkward in front of the camera.  i cry foul.  she is a beautiful soul, and i am happy to have caught the little moments with her.

FORE!!

on friday afternoon tyler, reagan, pravin, evan and i went to a driving range to try our hands at golfing (well the rest of us tried, and tyler crushed).  while sitting at my computer at work earlier that morning, i somehow managed to pull a muscle in my neck while doing absolutely nothing.  i'm just that strong.  so needless to say, i did not golf.  i tried once and my neck hurt.  also i whiffed it, but we are just going to pretend that my neck was the only reason i didn't want to continue practicing.  but i did bring my camera just in case:)  it was a lot of fun to watch the 4 of them mess around, and everyone actually got in some pretty impressive shots (i will vouch for you reagan- she seemed to only be able to really hit an awesome shot when tyler wasn't looking).  the day was beautiful, the weather perfect, and the light, oh the light.  perfection.  and just so you know all these shots are straight out of camera with no editing at all, and all of them are shot fully manual.  i am not trying to brag, i am just really proud of myself for nailing the exposure on a majority of these.  yes, some are a little dark, but i kind of like them like that.  afterwards we hit up a random indian restaurant in a gas station at a freeway pull-off downtown. best.naan.ever.  no seriously- this food was amazing. probably the best indian i have had to date. all in all, a great evening with great friends.  thank you guys for putting up with me standing dangerously close to you while you were trying to legitimately play, getting in your way, and laying down on the ground constantly to get a shot.  can't wait to share lindsay and my most recent collaboration.  have a great rest of the weekend.
love,
m

ps- the shot where it looks like tyler is yanking reagan's golf club out of her hands?  didn't go down like that.  he was actually helping correct her swing, not being an awful boyfriend.  i promise:)

i've got a, i've got a pocketful of sunshine...

oh natasha bedingfield. your songs are so catchy. i am SO excited about the pictures i am editing right now, and can't wait to share. i shot a morning session with lindsay this morning, which was incredible, and some pictures while hanging out with friends the day before. but for now enjoy these shots from our small group hang time at tim and risa's beautiful house. while we were having our talk that evening in their living room, i was staring outside at the GORGEOUS light glowing all over their backyard and it made me want to excuse myself and grab someone to go shoot pictures in! but alas, i did not. evan said i should have...maybe next time. we officially have no food in our fridge again. we dislike grocery shopping. eating is overrated. that is a total joke. i love eating. mostly dessert, but eating in general is great too. can anyone guess what movie i saw that made the song that is the title to this post become stuck in my head? you will win my respect. have a great saturday!
love,
m
